GLOBAL MN
By Ron Brantsner, Jun 2021
A number of Minnesota citizen groups use the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals as a “North Star” to help guide their work. Our previous SDG Roundtable presentations featured a number of these groups, including West Central Initiative Fund, GHR Foundation, Ecotone, United Way, and Sundance Family Foundation. This SDG Roundtable features the Shreya R. Dixit Memorial Foundation, a Minnesota advocacy group that works to increase road safety by advocating for laws, corporate policies, and individual commitments to eliminate the use of cell phones while driving. Their success – at the legislature and with major Minnesota companies – has expanded their mission to work with high school students, creating Distraction-Free Life clubs. They also incorporate the SDG 3.6 goal, reducing injuries and fatalities related to road crashes by half by 2030, into their work.
