I’ve been asked if I would be commenting on Saturday’s convention. As I was restricted from half of the convention, I’ve questioned making a statement… thinking others more closely aligned to the situation would comment// write letters with more specifics. They might. That said….
As a “guest,” not a delegate or alternate, I stood in the packed Thumper Pond Resort (Ottertail, MN) hallways with other guests, alternates and 33 suspended delegates/ 33 SDs who were “yellow listed”… (could as well have been wearing yellow stars). The 33 SDs were figuratively and physically blocked by Republican BPOU officers/ leadership team puppets because they hadn’t backed the endorsed candidate, Jordan Rasmusson. Their crimes may include that some had put up Nathan Miller signs in their yards or questioned why there was no audit even when fraud was documented with pictures and personal knowledge, etc. This kangaroo court was approved by OTC BPOU officers/ leadership group member puppets. It didn’t matter that, all along, the 33 SDs simply wanted the facts of an independent audit revealed. They had concluded that the OTC BPOU was hiding something by blocking an independent audit and, for this reason, they could not trust or back Jordan Rasmusson.
The 33 SDs and presumed like-minded constituents have been locked out of OTC BPOU zoom meetings since early spring of 2022. Also, that spring, the OTC BPOU “team” voted to no longer meet with constituents because the meetings were “getting too long,” some team members had “families, kids and were busy,” and because they had to “work on parades.” The truth? They didn’t want deplorables demanding answers to the fraud uncovered relating to the February caucus, they were respectable people who had issues with being lied to. Hence, The People of OTC were disenfranchised, told they’d have to organize separate meetings at another time. Constituents had no in-put in this ominous banana republic political tactic.
Guests weren’t allowed into the convention until approximately midw ay through. The 33 SDs were never allowed into the convention or to have access to audio of the happenings. I did hear David Hauser, former OTC Attorney, question something about an amendment to/ or changing something in the constitution, which later passed. This vote effectively kicks the 33 SDs out of the OTC BPOU for one year, regardless that state statutes and Republican rules were ignored by the MNGOP convener and OTC BPOU officials. Jenny Sutton pointed out that if the 33 suspended delegates had been seated and allowed to perform their duly elected duties, the 2/3 vote would not have supported the passing of the constitution. She asked that this info be included in the record.
The unsaid consequence of this change, because the 33 Suspended Delegates are forbidden to have any connection to the OTC BPOU for one year, none of those 33 can run for upcoming bpou office and possibly depose the present leaders and leadership group members. Had new officers been elected… they also would have been able to call for an audit of the Feb/22 caucus. It appears the OTC BPOU team recognized this potential crisis and, like progressives, doubled-down on a plan. “Never let a crisis go to waste.” Regardless of the obscured original and provable facts of a fraudulent caucus, they have skillfully manipulated their facts to protect their deceit.
Tami Barry, former officer of the previous OTC BPOU told me: “This new constitution is the death of the grassroots in OTCounty. David Hauser was very helpful, the problem is we didn’t have the numbers. I thought it was very interesting how Tommy [Tommy Merickel, OTC BPOU officer] treated him. To treat a former county attorney the way Tommy did, that was terrible.”
A coup by the OTC BPOU officers cabal and puppets had effectively hi-jacked the OTC BPOU, creating a historic divide within the people of this county.
